Matt,

Thanks for the testimony and suggestion. Also thank you for the prayer. It always helps to know people are praying for you. I will give it a try starting tonight!

Julie & others,

I would care to share a testimony if it would help yours or anyones cause. I was attending Exchange service out at Maryland when I heard Pastor Longyear mention the Life Journals available in their bookstore. I decided to check them out and the idea made alot of sense. Here is the idea: Read with a one year bible plan, or on your own (I started with Isaiah 1 and read one chapter a day, regardless of how many verses..) After you read, it gives you Journal pages to actually force yourself to write something about what you read...

1) Write down a specific verse, word for word, that stood out to you among the verses you read for the day
2) Write down a sentence or 2 about the context of the verse, what it was explaining within the rest of the verses you read.
3) Write down a sentence or 2 about how the scripture applies to your life, or how God spoke to you through it
4) Write down a prayer about the scripture, not too long, about the scripture

Now, I dont know how this works for everyone, and I think it takes me like 20 minutes or less on average a night, but for me, I am on day 252 of having read a chapter of the Bible each day following the outline above, that is 252 total chapters of scripture (Im good at math). And, its kind of your own committment between you and God, and other stuff, like Mosaic devos, will be extra, but if you have to, you can combine them if needed and pick back up on your individual reading later if time becomes problematic. Now, I have missed days, but I catch them up to stay on track and it has been great for accountability. Here is the cool part, in just 252 days, I have read all the Major and Minor prophets, Job, Proverbs & I just started Ecclesiastes. So, looking back, you can find some courage to continue based on accomplishment! The Life Journals are available for $7 at MCC bookstore, which I would recommend to get started, then you can make your own up for cheaper...

Heavenly Father, I would offer a prayer for Julie and others who may be finding it hard to stay in the Word, whether my idea helps or others out there are better, would you help us find ways to stay in your Word daily, receiving your daily bread, and walking in the light with you. I thank you and praise you in advance for the answers you have already begun to give others based on this prayer. In Jesus name, Amen.

During the group devotional I was daily doing the devotional and spending time in the word. It is such a busy time and without a specific goal, I'm struggling. Anyone else? Does anyone have a suggestion for a good devotional or book of the bible to be studying right now?

Thanks Matt, I am finding more and more that speaking positively and minimizing negativity are instrumental for the kingdom. I have alot of work to do too!

I would ask prayer for myself and my great brother in Christ, Michael (from Indy) as we travel to Broken Arrow/Tulsa, Oklahoma for a Christian Men's conference at the Rhema Bible Training Center. Also, pray for Kirsten and the boys as they give up daddy for a couple of days.....Mostly, Michael and I are looking forward to learning more about spirituality. It goes right back to getting more and more tools to be an effective Spiritual Warrior. I thank you for your prayers and celebrate the growth the Lord continually provides!

Jason,

Good devo last week about speaking positively. That's one of the greatest lies I give into regularly, that I'm not good enough to perform a certain task or speak out on a given topic. Thanks for bringing this back to the front of my mind.

Hey guys,

Just wanted to say how much I appreciated today's devo. Thanks Matt!

This stuff is deep calling unto deep. Let me encourage you to read these words again and again. Wrestle with the implications and let them go down deep.

To think...God is a person who feels and who communicates to us through our own faculties. That we can explore "the infinite riches of the Godhead" (Tozer). Explore...explore hard. Explore long as you think upon His love and depth.

Let me leave you with this thought directly from the devo and Tozer...

"To have found God and still to pursue Him is the soul's paradox of love..."

Wow...we have found Him. Yet, when we meet Him, we have only begun to know Him. Here's to happy exploration...

As I read back through today's devotional on Advice, I was reminded of our Journey Relationship meetings we have been having. I dont know about how the other meetings are going, but I have found them to be wonderful forums to get things off my chest, to simply have a place to discuss things in my life that I need help deciding on. Simply stated, I SEEK advice during these meetings. How is the Lord using the JR meetings to supply advice for you, or how are you viewing the importance of advice based on the devo?

McManus Family,

Thanks for stopping by. You are always welcome. Our team created a 3 week devotional that we are doing daily individually, discussing in our Journey Relationships (groups of 2 that meet bi-weekly), and creating a virtual community here. Thanks for giving us a place to use our voices. It's working out really well.
